Geography and History at Mossley Primary School

At Mossley CE Primary School, we aim to deliever a wide variety of Geography and History topics - from reception all the way through to year six - in a cross-curricular and stimulating way. Our lessons are always structured around learning important skills as well as developing a sound knowledge base. We aim to use a wide range of resources and offer visits to places of relevance so that our children have a wide range of experiences to enthuse their learning.

We teach our topics through a Creative Curriculum at Mossley and they are always changing so both pupils and staff can be inspired by new ideas. A topic is normally paired with an inspiring educational visit.

Regular days when special visitors come into school to share their experiences and resources are also arranged for our children so that they can develop their skills and knowledge even further. Year 5 enjoyed a visit from Chris Machin where they learnt all about the Viking way of life (see Year 5 webpage for more details). Year 3 were also lucky enough to take part in a Stone Age to Iron Age workshop delivered by Chris Trevor!

Our link to the local high school also allows our children to experience different methods and styles of learning, as well as enjoy first hand experiences with a wide array of resources.

I hope to keep you up to date with all of the fantastic History and Geography going on at Mossley.
