'Double' Secret Story Teller
Date: 3rd Feb 2016 @ 4:56pm
What a lovely surprise this week to have Phoebe's Auntie come into class and read for us as our Secret Story Teller. We were very pleased to see that it was a story written by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler titled 'Zog'.....do you remember 'Room on a Broom' and 'The Gruffalo'?!
'Zog is the keenest dragon in school. He's also the most accident-prone. Luckily a mysterious little girl always comes by and patches up his bumps and bruises. But will she be able to help him with his toughest test; capturing a princess?'
We loved hearing this story again and joining in with the rhyme, Thank you so very much Phoebe's Auntie, please come back!
We also had a visit from Emily's Grandma who very kindly remembered that we have been learning all about Bears and so brought in two fabulous Bear stories. The first was 'Where's my Teddy?' written by Jez Alborough which was a wonderful story of a lost Teddy...
'A case of mistaken identity among teddy bears - and a phenomenal bestseller! Little Eddy loses his toy bear and has to go looking fo him in the dark, horrible woods - where he's in for a gigantic surprise!!!'
Our second story was from the famous 'Old Bear' series written by Jane Hissey. What a wonderful reminder of old and news toys.
'The animals at the play room have remembered that Old Bear disappeared long ago. He has been put into the loft. They rescue him and bring back down to the Play room. He becomes the most respected toy and guides the others in their many adventures, both in the play gorund and in the garden.'
We all loved to hear the story and can't wait for tomorrow as we are having our own Teddy Bear's Picnic in the hall Thank you so much for reading our Bear stories and leaving us 'Bear Snores On' by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman.
