Pupil Leadership- Mossley School Council
Who We Are
Our school council consists of pupils from Year 2-6 who are elected to represent the views of all pupils and to improve their school. We also have our House Captains and Vice Captains as important members of our council. Can you spot our House Captains from the ties that they are wearing?
What We Do
Each year, classes from Year 2-6 will elect 2 representatives to be members of Mossley School Council.
We are a good school council because we listen to and represent the views of our class and we get things done. Our aim is to bring about change to improve our school. Mossley School Council have a breakfast meeting every Tuesday morning where we discuss important issues, ideas that we have had and any ongoing projects that we are working on.
We meet with different people in our school community in order to gather information for example our school chef, site manager, school business manager and teaching staff that are responsible for curriculum areas.
Another important responsibility that we have in school is to look at how the children of Mossley are kept safe. One of our standing agenda items each week is 'Safeguarding'. We work closely alongside our Safeguarding Governor Mrs Graham and our DSL Mrs Harrison.
The school council also delivers an assembly, each half term, to their peers in order to keep them informed about what the school council is doing. Take a look at our assemblies below.
Make a Difference
We don't just talk we get things done! Our current projects are:
- Organising a fundraising event to raise money for house flags.
- Looking at how we can make Mossley a healthier and more active school.
- Writing our own policy for how children can suggest improvements that can be made.
- Writing a Children's Safeguarding statement.
We also managed to secure sponsorship from three local companies who enabled us to purchase our 'House Flags' that we really wanted for Sports Day. We love them!
