Year 3's trip to The Manchester Museum, by Mrs Ashford Eaton
Date: 16th Nov 2016 @ 3:24pm
Year 3 had a fantastic trip to The Manchester Museum this week to consolidate all of their Stone Age knowledge. The children were really excited to take part in a workshop where they became archaeologists and dug for evidence of the Stone Age; they compared different stones and ordered them according to their age. The children then solved the challenge to find the use of each Stone Age tool.
During our time at the museum we were able to walk around the different collections, which the children found fascinating. They particularly enjoyed looking at fossils and posing for a photo with Stan the T-Rex!
Skillful Stonehenge!, by Mrs Ashford Eaton
Date: 8th Nov 2016 @ 11:36am
Stonehenge came alive today when Year 3 had a ‘mammoth’ task on their hands.
1000 boxes were kindly donated by Mr Whitehead. The children used these to build their replica Stonehenge. They started the day by learning how to assemble the boxes by folding the flaps. Surprisingly it only took them 30 minutes to put them together. The next task was to move the boxes into the hall; the children created a human conveyor belt to transport the boxes, much like they might have done in the Stone Age. Next, the children were split into 2 groups and given time to come up with a building strategy. The children had 20 minutes to construct Stonehenge. They improved their team working and problem solving skills whilst thoroughly enjoying the activity.
All of the staff were amazed by their ability to work together as a cohesive unit and produce a fantastic example of Stonehenge. Well done Year 3!
Choir Recording Experience, by Miss Young
Date: 29th Oct 2016 @ 11:02pm
On Friday 21st October the choir were very lucky to have the experience of their singing being recorded! Staff from Orchard Recording Studios in Alsager visited the school and set up a mini studio in one of the classrooms. The choir were very excited and nervous at the same time! They recorded a range of songs that are to be sung on Friday 11th November at the United Reformed Church in Congleton to commemorate Remembrance Day. Please come and support us on the night and see just how fabulous they really are! CDs will also be sold of the songs that were recorded! All of the children did a fantastic job and I was very impressed with how they sounded on the day. They should all be unbelievably proud of themselves and what they have achieved!
